Man charged after plowing car into Southern California gym

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Prosecutors say a Southern California man angry that a gym canceled his membership for inappropriate behavior crashed his car through the front window of the building, nearly striking an employee.

The Los Angeles County district attorney’s office says Thursday that 32-year-old Sergio Reyes faces multiple charges including attempted murder. It wasn’t immediately known if he has an attorney.

Prosecutors say Reyes argued with workers at the Crunch Gym in La Mirada and vowed to return.

Officials say Reyes drove a relative’s Honda Accord through the front of the 24-hour gym at around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Surveillance video obtained by KABC-TV shows an employee jumping out of the way as the car plows through the glass.

Officials didn’t say what the behavior was that prompted the gym to cancel his membership.
