Man held in brutal beating at Southern California bus stop

BUENA PARK, Calif (AP) — Authorities say a man has been charged in a brutal beating at a Southern California bus stop and two other assaults.

A video shows the assailant kicking and stomping on the 65-year-old victim Wednesday in Buena Park, and then stealing his bicycle.

Police in neighboring Fullerton subsequently arrested 33-year-old Kenneth Heimlich of Placentia, and the Orange County District Attorney’s Office filed charges Friday, revealing two other alleged attacks.

Heimlich is charged with assault, battery and second-degree robbery in connection with the first attack. He’s also charged with assault on another person and misdemeanor battery on a police officer. It’s unclear if he has an attorney.

Buena Park police say the bus stop victim remains unconscious and in critical condition Friday.

None of the victims’ identities have been released.
