Man pleads to killing 2 homeless, including pregnant woman

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A man who’s already behind bars for strangling a teenage runaway in Los Angeles has pleaded guilty to killing two homeless women, one of whom was pregnant.

Gilton Pitre entered pleas Tuesday to three first-degree murder charges with special circumstance allegations. He’s facing life in prison without parole.

Prosecutors say in 2004, Pitre killed Maribel Medina and Irma Barboza, then dumped their bodies in downtown Los Angeles.

Barboza was about eight months pregnant when she died. The third murder charge relates to her fetus.

Pitre already is serving 110 years to life for raping and killing 15-year-old Alyssa Gomez in 2007 in a Sunset Boulevard motel room.

The girl was killed four days after Pitre, a convicted rapist, was released from prison after pleading guilty to a drug crime.
