Man plunges from California building, lands on man below

GLENDALE, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say a man who apparently tried to kill himself by jumping from a building at a Los Angeles-area shopping mall landed on another man below him and both have been hospitalized.

Glendale police spokeswoman Tahnee Lightfoot says a man in his 20s plunged from the seventh-story roof of a parking structure at the Americana at Brand mall Tuesday afternoon.

He landed on a man below who had two children with him.

Lightfoot says the jumper had “significant, serious” injuries.

She says the other man also was injured but he’s expected to survive.

The children weren’t hurt.
