Man sentenced for 1980 killing of woman found on beach
LOS ANGELES (AP) — A 68-year-old man has been sentenced to 15 years to life in prison for the killing of a young pregnant woman whose body was found on a Los Angeles-area beach nearly four decades ago.
Twenty-year-old Teresa Broudreaux was wearing only socks and had suffered blunt trauma to the head when she was discovered by a surfer in Malaga Cove on March 4, 1980.
Robert Yniquez was arrested in 2017 after being linked to the killing with DNA evidence found on Broudreaux. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office says Yniquez was sentenced Monday after pleading no-contest to second-degree murder.
Officials did not release a motive.
