Man who walked away from reentry program arrested
SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) — Officials say they have arrested a man who walked away from a reentry program facility in Los Angeles.
The Orange County Register reports California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation spokeswoman Krissi Khokhobashvili says Special Service Unit officials with the agency arrested Richard Tarin on Wednesday afternoon at Bassett Park in La Puente.
Officials say Tarin walked out of the Male Community Reentry Program facility on Saturday and removed his electronic monitoring device.
Khokhobashvili says Tarin was arrested and taken to the California Institution for Men in Chino.
The Male Community Reentry Program allows eligible offenders in state prison to serve the end of their sentences in the reentry center
Tarin had been participating in the program since April 3 and was scheduled to be released to parole supervision in November.
