Moonves becomes latest powerful exec felled in #MeToo era

NEW YORK (AP) — The abrupt departure of CBS chief Leslie Moonves is the latest, and one of most prominent downfalls, of a powerful entertainment executive due to sexual misconduct allegations.

The CBS Corp. announced its chairman’s exit Sunday night, hours after The New Yorker magazine posted a story with a second round of ugly accusations against Moonves. A dozen women have alleged mistreatment, including forced oral sex, groping and retaliation if they resisted him.

Moonves denied the charges, although he said he had consensual relations with three of the women.

There are numerous questions now that Moonves is gone including who will replace him and what role his wife and CBS host Julie Chen will have in the company going forward.
