Motorcycle officer airlifted from crash on LA-area freeway
AGOURA HILLS, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say a California Highway Patrol motorcycle officer who was airlifted to a hospital after crashing into a freeway divider is expected to recover.
Traffic was backed up for miles following the crash Sunday morning on westbound U.S. 101 in the Los Angeles-area city of Agoura Hills.
Officials say the officer is being treated for scrapes and bruises and broken bones.
The CHP tweeted a photo of a smashed up motorcycle on its side — but did not release details about the cause of the crash.
Multiple westbound lanes were closed at the scene of the crash about 40 miles (65 kilometers) northwest of downtown Los Angeles.
