Officer injured when vehicle rolls off flatbed tow truck

PORT HUENEME, Calif. (AP) — A Southern California police officer is recovering after being pinned underneath a vehicle in an accident involving a tow truck.

Port Hueneme police Sgt. Eric Starna tells KEYT that Officer Gladys Rosete responded to a minor three-vehicle traffic collision Sunday night.

A mini-van involved in the crash was being loaded onto the bed of the tow truck when it came loose, rolled back and collided with another vehicle that had been involved in the collision, pinning the officer to the ground.

Firefighters used equipment to lift the vehicle off Rosete and she was taken to a hospital. She was treated for injuries to her legs and right hip, and was then released.
