Oxnard man charged with murder in man’s hit-and-run death

OXNARD, Calif. (AP) — An Oxnard man has been charged with murder in what prosecutors say was an intentional hit-and-run.

The Ventura County District Attorney’s Office said Friday that 33-year-old Gerardo Miguel Rodriguez-Grajeda was charged in the death of 23-year-old Jorge Tejada.

Oxnard police say they arrested Rodriguez-Grajeda on Thursday at the Ventura County jail, where he was being held on charges of vandalizing a police department window. It’s unclear whether Rodriguez-Grajeda has an attorney.

Police say Tejada was intentionally hit with a car Sept. 23 after he was involved in a fight in an alley near a nightclub.

Police are asking for the public to submit any photos or videos they may have taken of the fight or hit-and-run.

Rodriguez-Grajeda is being held on $750,000 bail. His arraignment is set for Nov. 13.
