Pilot killed in small plane crash was LA resident

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Authorities say the pilot killed when a small plane crashed in Southern California mountains was a 66-year-old Los Angeles resident.

The crash was reported Saturday about 30 miles (48 kilometers) northwest of Los Angeles.

The coroner’s office said Monday that Daniel Louis Delane was pronounced dead at the crash site in the Santa Susana Mountains. He was the only person on board the Nanchang CJ6 aircraft.

Delane lived in the San Pedro neighborhood of LA.

The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the cause of the crash.
