Plea entered in shooting that preceded black teen’s killing

PITTSBURGH (AP) — A Pennsylvania man has pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and firearms violations for a drive-by shooting that preceded the killing of a fellow passenger by a police officer.

Eighteen-year-old Zaijuan (jay-WAN) Hester of Swissvale pleaded guilty Friday for the June shooting in North Braddock that led then-East Pittsburgh Police Officer Michael Rosfeld to pull over the unlicensed cab.

The trial of Rosfeld, who is white, starts Tuesday for the criminal homicide of black teenager Antwon Rose II.

Rosfeld’s lawyer argues that his client was justified in shooting the 17-year-old Rose in the back as he ran from the cab.

Prosecutors say a man was wounded in the abdomen in the drive-by shooting.
