Police: California man caught after ex-wife, kids abducted
FRESNO, Calif. (AP) — Northern California police say they have arrested a 40-year-old man who allegedly violently abducted his former wife and her two young children.
Fresno Police spokesman Mark Hudson says officers captured Robert Gonzalez Friday about 5:30 p.m. and recovered his 2-year-old daughter. Gonzalez is accused of abducting her Thursday along with his ex-wife and her 11-month-old son.
Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer said the mother and son escaped earlier Friday and Gonzalez fled with the girl.
Dyer said Gonzalez forced the trio into his car as they got off a bus Thursday afternoon in Fresno.
Dyer said Gonzalez appeared to have been angered by a Facebook post in which the woman said she was in a new relationship. Dyer said Gonzalez allegedly beat the woman into unconsciousness before she escaped.
