Police: Nobody hurt in robbery attempt at Los Angeles mall

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Police say nobody was hurt and there’s no evidence of a shooting after gunfire was reported during a possible robbery attempt at a Los Angeles mall.

Officer Rosario Cervantes says police are searching for two male suspects Sunday at Westfield Topanga and The Village in the Canoga Park area.

Cervantes says reports of a possible shooting came in around 3:10 p.m. She says subsequent reports indicate it might have been a smash-and-grab robbery attempt.

Officials say there’s no initial evidence that a shooting took place. Police are clearing the building as a precaution.

A woman who answered the phone at the Neiman Marcus at the mall says the store is on lockdown but she wasn’t sure why.

The mall is about 25 miles (40 kilometers) northwest of downtown Los Angeles.
