Police shoot man, arrest woman after California car chase
HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (AP) — Police in Southern California say a stolen-car suspect was shot and killed by officers at the end of a chase and a woman in the vehicle was arrested.
Huntington Beach Police Officer Angela Bennett says the car was stopped by spike strips deployed during the pursuit early Thursday.
Bennett says the shooting occurred as a man and a woman ran from the car. She says the man was struck and taken to a hospital, where he died.
Bennett says a gun was found at the scene, but it wasn’t immediately known whether the man fired at officers. The circumstances of the shooting are under investigation.
City News Service reports the woman was taken into custody.
No officers were hurt.
