Police shoot, wound suspect following California pursuit

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Police in Southern California say officers shot and wounded a suspect following a brief car chase.

Anaheim Police Sgt. Shane Carringer says officers responded Saturday morning following reports of a man acting erratically outside a family member’s home.

Carringer says the suspect led officers on a short pursuit around the neighborhood before the shooting occurred. He didn’t say what prompted police to open fire or whether a weapon was recovered.

The Orange County Register reports the 50-year-old suspect was hospitalized in unknown condition. No officers were hurt.
