Police: Woman critical after crashing on California beach
PACIFICA, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say an 18-year-old woman is in critical condition after her car went over a cliff and landed on a San Francisco Bay Area beach several hundred feet below.
The woman crashed on Mussel Rock Beach in Pacifica on Wednesday night. Firefighters helped extract her from the vehicle, and she was taken to Stanford University Medical Center by a California Highway Patrol helicopter.
Pacifica police Capt. Chris Clements said investigators don’t know yet what caused the crash. Video from a CHP helicopter shows the SUV on its side and rescuers on the beach.
