Pregnant woman stable after being stabbed in LA carjacking

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Authorities say two people are in custody and police are searching for additional suspects after a pregnant woman was stabbed multiple times during a carjacking in Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles Times reports the woman, who is 12 weeks pregnant, suffered 10 stab wounds in the attack Wednesday evening in a San Fernando Valley neighborhood.

The newspaper says she underwent surgery and is in stable condition.

Police say the woman was sitting in her car when she was approached by two or three people who asked for her phone. Investigators say the assailants stabbed her and took her car.

Authorities have not released the names of the two people in custody.
