Report: Full-scale UN response needed in Venezuela
WASHINGTON (AP) — Two organizations are asking the United Nations to provide a full-scale response to what they call an unprecedented humanitarian emergency caused by the collapse of the Venezuelan health system.
Researchers from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and Human Rights Watch are calling on Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to have the UN emergency relief coordinator address Venezuela’s crisis as a top priority and to request official data from Venezuelan authorities in order to assess the scope of the crisis.
Guterres’ office did not immediately respond to a request from The Associated Press for a comment.
