San Diego County families displaced by residential fire

IMPERIAL BEACH, Calif. (AP) — The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department says fire has displaced families from a six-unit residential complex in Imperial Beach.

The fire was reported at 3:55 a.m. Wednesday and responding deputies began evacuations when they were unable to contain the flames in a unit.

Four units were destroyed and two others may have been damaged.

The Sheriff’s Department says the American Red Cross is assisting displaced families.

A deputy suffered minor burns.
