Small plane hits power lines, crashes in California lake
JAMESTOWN, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say a small plane has crashed into a rural California lake after striking power lines.
The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office says the pilot was the only person on board when the plane hit the water nose first and sank Sunday at Lake Tulloch. The condition of the pilot wasn’t immediately known.
Officials say power is out in the area about 120 miles (193 kilometers) east of San Francisco.
The lake is popular with campers, boaters and anglers.
The cause is under investigation.
