Southern California campus evacuated due to nearby fire

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (AP) — A Southern California campus is being evacuated because of a brush fire.

The fire is burning Wednesday near The Master’s University in Santa Clarita, north of Los Angeles.

Los Angeles County Fire Department spokesman Austin Bennett says the first fire engine reached the campus at 1 p.m. and assigned a structure protection group.

Bennett says he can’t confirm how close the fire is to the school.

The fire currently is at 3 acres (1.2 hectares).
