Southwest California to see strong winds
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Southwest California is in for a blast of winds that could cause damage and make travel dangerous.
The National Weather Service says strong northwest to north winds will impact many areas Thursday through Friday morning as a weak cold front pushes through the region.
Forecasters say a particular area of concern is the heavily traveled stretch of Interstate 5 in the mountains between Los Angeles and the San Joaquin Valley.
The Grapevine section of I-5 could see rain and snow showers along with strong gusts.
Elsewhere, winter weather advisories will remain in effect Thursday until midmorning in the Sierra Nevada and noon in the interior of northwestern California.
