Spokesman: No charges for Bernie Sanders’ wife

MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) — A spokesman for Sen. Bernie Sanders and his wife says Jane Sanders has been informed that the U.S. Attorney in Vermont has closed its investigation of a college land deal involving her and decided not to bring charges.

Jeff Weaver told The Associated Press on Tuesday that Jane Sanders is grateful the investigation is over and has said from the beginning she has done nothing wrong.

A U.S. attorney’s office spokesman said he couldn’t comment.

Investigators had been looking into the finances behind a real estate deal for a now-defunct college.

The complaint against Jane Sanders was filed in early 2016 by attorney Brady Toensing, who served as the Vermont campaign chairman for Donald Trump during his run for president as a Republican.
