Suddenly, Trump’s team hearts the Mueller report
WASHINGTON (AP) — For nearly two years, President Donald Trump assailed the special counsel’s Russia investigation. And he had choice words for the inquiry when it ended, calling it “the Crazy Mueller Report,” written by “18 Angry Democrat Trump Haters.”
But now, with Democrats stepping up their inquiries, Trump’s team is praising Robert Mueller’s work. Trump himself calls it the “most thorough investigation probably in the history of our country.” Trump’s team says it should be the last word on the matter.
Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway says the president’s view is that “the Mueller report is the definitive, conclusive non-partisan investigation.”
That’s a switch. Trump has called the inquiry a partisan, polluted exercise since its inception and, according to the Mueller report, pressed aides to stop it.
