Sundance: An ode to Springsteen in ‘Blinded by the Light’

PARK CITY, Utah (AP) — One day after Park City, Utah, rocked out to 17 Bruce Springsteen songs in the film “Blinded by the Light” at the Sundance Film Festival, New Line is in talks to acquire the feel-good film for $15 million.

“Blinded by the Light” is based on Guardian journalist Sarfraz Manzoor’s memoir about how Springsteen’s songs helped him make sense of his life as a Muslim in Britain.

“Bend It Like Beckham” director Gurinder Chadha helms the film, which is set in 1987 and has Springsteen’s approval.

The Boss did not make it to Park City, however. Chadha said he didn’t want to distract from the film.
