Suspect arrested in East Los Angeles bus stabbing

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles County sheriff’s officials say an attempted-murder suspect has been arrested in the stabbing of a man on a transit bus.

The department says Manuel Ortiz was taken into custody around 1 a.m. Wednesday.

The 27-year-old could face charges including attempted murder. It wasn’t immediately known if he has an attorney.

The victim was stabbed multiple times Monday on the bus traveling in East Los Angeles. Investigators say the assailant got off the bus and ran away.

The condition of the victim, described as being in his mid-20s, wasn’t known Wednesday.
