Suspect in casino kidnapping arrested at Lake Tahoe

STATELINE, Nev. (AP) — A 23-year-old California man has been arrested as a suspect in the beating and kidnapping of his girlfriend at a Lake Tahoe casino.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office says Moises Casillas of South Lake Tahoe was being held Tuesday in the El Dorado County Jail on $50,000 bail.

He was arrested Monday on kidnapping and domestic battery charges.

South Lake Tahoe police say they first responded to a report of domestic violence Saturday at a local hotel. A 24-year-old woman told them her boyfriend, Casillas, beat and strangled her after she told him she was leaving him and wanted money he owed her.

On Monday, he allegedly kidnapped her from Harvey’s casino before police and FBI agents tracked him to an apartment and arrested him. It’s not clear if he has a lawyer or will be appointed one.
