Suspect wanted in killing 2 relatives in Bay Area arrested
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — A man wanted on suspicion of killing two family members in the San Francisco Bay Area has been arrested in Nevada after shooting and injuring a sheriff’s sergeant who chasing him on a highway.
Authorities said 43-year-old Stefon Jefferson was taken into custody late Friday about 7 miles southeast of Lake Tahoe. The Douglas County, Nev. Sheriff’s department said a sergeant sustained a non-life-threatening injury after being shot. The chase ended when the suspect crashed his car.
Jefferson is suspected of fatally shooting a relative in Oakland Friday morning before heading to San Francisco to kill another relative in the Bayview district.
Neighbors told the San Francisco Chronicle that one of the victims is Jefferson’s uncle. The two lived in separate units on the same property in Oakland’s Longfellow neighborhood.
