TRUCKEE, Calif. (AP) — The Latest on a small plane crash near Lake Tahoe (all times local, PDT):

10:20 a.m.

One person has been killed and two people injured in a small plane crash near Lake Tahoe.

The Placer County sheriff’s office confirmed the fatality Tuesday morning south of Truckee, California along State Route 267 near the Northstar ski resort.

Sheriff’s deputies say the two people who survived the crash were taken to nearby hospitals after the single-engine plane went down shortly after takeoff from the Truckee Tahoe Airport near the highway connecting Interstate 80 to Lake Tahoe.

The Sierra Sun reports two male passengers were in critical condition.

The California Highway Patrol says the pilot reported engine trouble shortly after takeoff from the airport about 7:30 a.m.

It wasn’t immediately clear if the pilot was killed or how many people were on the plane.

Emergency crews are responding to a small plane crash near Lake Tahoe.

The California Highway Patrol says a small plane went down Tuesday morning south of Truckee, California near the Northstar ski resort along State Route 267.

It’s not clear how many people were on board or if anyone was hurt.

The patrol says the pilot reported engine trouble shortly after takeoff from the Truckee Tahoe Airport about 8 a.m.

Traffic is backed up on State Route 267 connecting U.S. Interstate 80 to the north shore of Lake Tahoe at Kings Beach, California.
