The Latest: 3 killed after car crashes during police chase

MILWAUKEE (AP) — The Latest on a Milwaukee police pursuit that ended with a vehicle crashing into a river, killing its three occupants (all times local):

12:10 a.m.

Milwaukee police say officers began pursuing a vehicle that crashed into a Milwaukee river because it matched the description of a car involved in two armed robberies.

A toddler and two adults died in the crash Monday evening. Police say an officer tried to stop the car but the driver drove off.

Divers found the bodies of a 2-year-old girl and a 29-year-old man on Tuesday after the car was removed from the Kinnickinnic River. The body of the toddler’s 19-year-old mother was recovered from the river Monday.

Police Sgt. Sheronda Grant was unable to say how many people were attacked in the two separate robberies Monday. Police also don’t know whether the toddler was in the car at the time.

Police are planning a news conference Wednesday afternoon.
