Woman, 98, fights off eviction from San Diego home
SAN DIEGO (AP) — A 98-year-old woman has fought off eviction from a San Diego home — at least for now.
KGTV-TV reports that attorneys on Monday agreed to dismiss an eviction lawsuit against Betty Morse.
She received an eviction notice last year because her landlord wants to remodel her Ocean Beach home and charge market value.
The landlord is opting out of the federal Section 8 program that provides low-income housing.
Morse’s attorney, Andrew Griffin, says attorneys for the landlord sued to force her out but they didn’t do all the paperwork properly and agreed on Monday to dismiss the case.
Griffin says there’s nothing to stop the landlord from starting the eviction process again.
However, Morse tells the TV station: “I’m going to try really hard to hang in there.”
