Immigration attorney Esther Valdes discusses new public benefit immigration rule

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – A new rule issued by the Department of Homeland Security on Monday seeks to deny green cards to legal immigrants in the U.S. if they use social programs like Medicaid, food stamps, housing vouchers or other forms of public assistance.

It looks to deny prospective immigrants entry into the U.S. if they cannot prove that they will not use such programs.

Immigration attorney and KUSI contributor Esther Valdes was here to discuss the rule.
