Imperial Beach sewage solution may involve selling waste to wine makers

For the last 40 years, Imperial Beach has been the official dumping ground for Mexican sewage. In one of the biggest spills, 280 million gallons of raw sewage flooded directly into the ocean from the Tijuana River Valley, closing the beach for weeks.

Now, with a little help from a private company, there’s hope for clean water in San Diego once again.

KUSI’s Dan Plante spoke to Imperial Beach Mayor Serge Dedina about the potential new plan.
