Indoor wind tunnel coming to downtown San Diego
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Local businessman Buzz Fink is bringing an indoor wind tunnel to downtown San Diego. He is bringing the 30-foot high, 14-foot wide glass tubes to the East Village.
Instead of jumping out of a plane at 15,000 feet, thrill seekers could remain relatively close to the ground while getting winds kicked up to 180 miles per hour generated by a 30-foot wind fan.
The wind tunnel will also be used for military training.
The new attraction will be located at Imperial Avenue and 14th Street in downtown San Diego, and will cost around $10 million to construct.
Ground breaking is scheduled to begin in January 2015, with a grand opening aimed around Christmas 2015, confirmed Fink.
Fink also owns the outdoor SkyDive San Diego in Jamul.
