Update: Mother arrested in connection to death of Alpine toddler
ALPINE (KUSI) — 12/12/2016 — The mother of an 18-month-old toddler found dead in Alpine was arrested Monday in connect to the death.
Detectives with the Sheriff’s Homicide Detail arrested Alpine resident Lilly Brown in connection with the death of her 18 month-old daughter Leah Brown-Meza.
Lilly Brown was taken into custody at about 6:00 p.m.
Lilly Brown will be booked into the Las Colinas Woman’s Detention and Reentry Facility on three counts of willful cruelty to a child with great bodily injury and/or death.

12/9/2016 — A man was arrested Friday in connection to the suspicious death of a toddler in an eastern San Diego County home Tuesday, authorities reported.
Wiliey Foster, 26, was arrested early Friday in connection with the death of 18-month-old Leah Brown-Meza, San Diego Sheriff’s Lt. Kenneth Nelson said. Foster was the boyfriend of the toddler’s mother and lived with the two in a motor home in the 300 block of Hunter Lane, where deputies responded to reports that the child had stopped breathing just after noon Tuesday.
Medics attempted to Brown-Meza but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Homicide and child-abuse detectives took over the investigation Tuesday after discovering injuries on the child, Lt. Nelson said Tuesday.
"Based on the circumstances and the presence of … injuries to the victim, sheriff’s homicide and child-abuse detectives were called to the scene and have assumed investigative responsibility,” Lt. Nelson said.
The Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the death a homicide caused by blunt force trauma. Other autopsy results remain sealed.
Foster will be booked in to San Diego County Jail on one count of murder.
