It’s move-in day for students at San Diego State University

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) — It was a big day for thousands of college students at San Diego State University.

Students flooded the dorm rooms with their belongings as part of move-in day.

Thousands and thousands of students are on their way to new beginnings.

It was officially move-in day on the campus of San Diego State.

Many parents were emotional, excited and very proud to see their kids take this new journey.

"I’m a mixture of all emotions: Sadness, happiness and excitement," said Mia Sellier, a mother of a student moving in.

Mia, from Fallbrook, could barely hold back her tears.

Her youngest daughter Mariah is starting her first year in college.

"I feel very excited. I’ve been looking forward to this for a long time. Now we’re actually here and I have all my things," Mariah said.

As for her father, he’s been ready for this day to come, believe it or not.

"It’s about time," said Mike Sellier.

Sara is here from San Francisco and she brought with her, a special friend: her teddy bear that she’s had since she was 8.

"I’m really looking forward to meeting new people. I love the Bay area, but the beach is my favorite place," she said.

And Sara’s mom?

"Yes, I cried on the plane," she said.

It’s a whole new chapter and it will be fun for these new students.
