Jaguars prevent Eagles from entering their valley
Week 5 of the Prep Pigskin Report comes to an end and the regular season hits the halfway point. At this point in the season, wins are starting to become crucial and losses are undesirable.
It was before the game when the head coach for Granite Hills, Kellan Cobbs, said that he was “looking forward to playing Valley Center, they are a well-coached team and play hard.” Just as Coach Cobbs presumed, the Jaguars were coached well and they did play hard.
The Granite Hills Eagles scored first on an 18-yard touchdown run by Tyler Gonzalez to make it 7-0, but it was all Valley Center after that. Rikki Mazzetti drove the offense to success as he threw for two touchdowns and over 100 yards.
Another impactful player for the Jaguars was the running back, Ryan McCowan, who finished with two touchdowns. McCowan began seeing the majority of the carries for the Jaguars after Mateo Sinohui went down with an injury in the second half.
Although the offense of the Jaguars was superb, their defense came to play as Kobe Dominguez and Micah McClure both came up with clutch interceptions in the fourth quarter.
The final score was 29-7 in favor of the Jaguars as they improved their record to 4-1.

PREVIEW: As we approach Week 5 of the high school football season in San Diego County, the Prep Pigskin Report is looking forward to one matchup in particular, Granite Hills Eagles Vs Valley Center Jaguars. Both of these teams have looked very impressive this season, with just one loss each under their belts.
Valley Center is coming off of a stunning 27-20 win in a tightly contested matchup against the Imperial Tigers. It has been the Junior quarterback for the Jaguars, Rikki Mazzetti, who has lead this squad to a 3-1 overall record. The Jaguars only loss thus far in 2017 occurred in Week 3 in a 14-13 battle against El Capitan, which just so happened to be featured as The Prep Pigskin Report Game of the Week.
For Granite Hills, they are facing a 2-1 overall record, coming off of a bye week. After starting their season with a loss to the very impressive San Pasqual Golden Eagles, they have bounced back winning their previous two. Their last victory came in a shootout against the Steele Canyon Cougars with the final score being 43-41.
