January 11 is National Human Trafficking Awareness and Prevention Day

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – January marks the beginning of a new year and the start of Human Trafficking Awareness month.

During the month of January, the Free to Thrive organization is aiming to shed on who human trafficking survivors are. While many of their clients are survivors of domestic violence, homelessness, and mental illness they are also mothers, community-leaders, and teachers – they are human.

Founder and managing attorney of Free to Thrive, Jamie Beck, joined KUSI’s Elizabeth Alvarez on Good Morning San Diego to discuss the work they are doing in more detail.
