Jersey Mike’s City Game of the Week: Cathedral Catholic Dons 49, Madison Warhawks 7

POSTGAME:

Week 7 has come and gone. This week I had the pleasure to check out the collegiate like campus in Cathedral Catholic High School as they hosted the in conference Warhawks from Madison High School. To say it lightly, there was revenge handed on a silver platter by the Dons. The Jersey Mike’s City Game of the Week ended with a final score of 49 to 7 Dons over the Warhawks. Roll Dons Roll

The Jersey Mike’s City Player of the Game was NICK GUERENA who had several tackles for a loss, a forced fumble on the 2nd drive for the Hawks from Madison and Guerena intercepted one in the end-zone for the Dons. “The team everybody saw in week one….that’s not us. WE are going to make a push for it”.

For the Warhawks of Madison High School, they couldn’t find the igniter for the gas they had up their sleeve. The Hawk offense moved the chains all night, however they were unable to find multiple reservations for six. BROCK WHITE, a transfer from Rancho Verde High School made his season debut under center. DANIEL STOKES turned on the burners and pulled away after making a nice grab and run to the hole from 87 yards out.

For the Dons for Cathedral, they tonight made sure to plead their case they are the top team in the county. After a La Costa Canyon loss to Point Loma High School in Week 7, it appears there is no clear top team heading into Week 8.

The Dons used a little bit of everything tonight to get the Dub. Fullback SHAWN POMA by far had the best night on the offensive side of the ball. The credit really needs to go to his offensive line up front for the Dons. The hogs cleared the way for the Cathedral running game all night long. On the defensive side of the ball, ELISHA LLOYD and MATT SURPRENANT both made great interceptions in this one.

The Dons stay up a top of the Western League with Saint Augustine and Point Loma. The Dons head into week 8 (5-1).

The Warhawks drop to (0-1) in the Western League and have an overall record of (4-2).

PREVIEW:

This Friday, out at Cathedral Catholic High School, the Dons look to get theirs at home against the visiting Warhawks from Madison High School in the Jersey Mike’s City Game of the Week.

Could there be revenge for last year? Possibly the same result as last year? Nobody knows for sure until this Friday night at 7 p.m.

Last year, the Warhawks beat the Dons, 35-14, behind their powerful running game. Both running backs are returning backs for Madison.

The head coach for the visiting Madison Warhawks is Rick Jackson and the head coach for the Cathedral Catholic Dons is Sean Doyle.

For the Warhawks of Madison High School, they come into this matchup 4-1.

The Warhawks have a home loss back in Week 5 to Vista Murrieta High School and in Week 6 they had a bye.

Madison looks to KENAN CHRISTON, KE’ONTAE SPRINGS and GABE BATTAGLIA on the ground.

The Warhawks run a dual quarterback scheme.

Look for TREYVONNE ANDERSON on the defensive side of the ball for the Madison High Warhawks.

For the Dons of Cathedral Catholic High School, they also come into this matchup 4-1.

Doyle and his army have an away loss on the season as the Dons lost the first game of the season against La Costa Canyon.

Since then, they have steamrolled their way into a four game winning streak.

DJ RALPH under center looks to move the chains on Friday.  SHAWN POMA has been the lead back for the Dons thus far. Receiver ZION SORANI is somebody to look for in this one.
