Jewish Family Service proposes parking lot for homeless families

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – The Encinitas City Council is moving forward with a plan that would create a parking lot in North County for people living in their cars.

The location is at the Leichtag Commons on Saxony Road, South of Leucadia Blvd. and east of I-5.

Council members heard from the head of Jewish Family Service last night, an agency that already operates three safe parking lots for the City of San Diego.

The council is expected to review the plan for final approval on Dec. 18.

Michael Hopkins, CEO Jewish Family Service, was in studio to tell us more.
