Jury selection begins for man who posted on revenge porn website

SAN DIEGO (CNS) – Jury selection was scheduled to get under way at the downtown courthouse Tuesday in the trial of a man accused of posting thousands of nude photos of women on a so-called “revenge porn” website.

Kevin Christopher Bollaert allegedly posted the photos without the women’s permission, then extorted $300 to $350 from those who wanted their images taken down. He is charged with 31 felony counts involving 14 alleged victims — all identified as “Jane Doe” in court documents.

Among the charges Bollaert faces are conspiracy, identity theft and extortion.

Authorities said Bollaert allowed users to upload 10,170 private explicit photographs anonymously to yougotposted.com between December 2012 and September 2013. Commonly known as “revenge porn,” the practice of anonymously sharing such images typically involves a scorned ex-lover distributing photos that were taken before their relationship ended.

Unlike other “revenge porn” sites, yougotposted.com prompted users to also share personal identifying information about the subject in the photo, including name, age and address, authorities said.
