Kearny Comets 59, Southwest Raiders 28
The Kearny Komets continue their impressive start to the season, as they steam roll the Southwest SD Raiders by the score of 59-28. The Komets are off to their best four game start in recent memory as Brenton Bell leads the way with four scores in the game.
This game got off to a fast start, as Bell found the end zone early in the first quarter for a 92 yard scamper to put the Komets up 7-0. However, the lead didn’t last long as Raiders quarterback, David Espinoza connected with Joe Young for a 37 yard touchdown to tie the game 7-7.
After a three and out by the Raiders, Anthony Daniels of Kearny High took the Southwest punt 60 yards to the house to extend the Komet lead 14-7. After three more touchdowns, two of them by Bell, the Komets headed into halftime with a 33-7 lead.
Although, things were a bit more competitive in the second half, the Kearny offense appeared too much for the Raiders, as they put Southwest SD away by the score of 59-28.
In Week 5, Southwest SD will travel up north to Perris to take on Orange Vista at 7:00 pm. While Kearny looks to stay unbeaten, as they play host to the San Ysidro Cougars at 6:30 pm.

Week 4 of the Prep Pigskin Report gets underway this Friday night with the (0-3) Southwest SD Raiders traveling up the 5 freeway for a date with the red hot (3-0) Kearny Komets at 6:30 p.m.
The Komets undefeated start is due in large part to their powerful running attack nicknamed the “K-Train”. Headlined by senior captain, Brenton Bell, Kearny has been an absolute force on the ground bullying their opponents in the trenches with a strong, young offensive line.
Kearny head Coach Will Gray says, “All of them [Offensive line] are first year varsity players. We talk to the kids about trusting the process and not putting their heads down when something goes wrong, and, I honestly believe they are buying into that theory”.
“One thing I can’t wait to see is a game that we put four quarters together. That is when we will truly become a dangerous team” added Gray.
Although the Raiders are still searching for their first win of the season, Coach Paco Silva will have his boys chomping at the bit to erase perfection for the Komets. Expect fireworks early and often and keep an eye on the Raiders, Joshua Sanchez, as he continues to be a pain for opposing defenses through the air, and on the ground.
