Kearny Komets 35, Mater Dei Crusaders 14

The Kearny Komets defeated the Mater Dei Crusaders, 35-14, at Kearny High on Friday night.

The Kearny Komets came into the game with a record of 2-0 and were ready to get another win under their belt.

With Kenyon Williams as the quarterback and Demieko Hill at receiver, the Komets came out blazing.

Early in the first quarter, Williams had a 42-yard touchdown pass to Xavier Tate followed by 71-yard touchdown pass to Hill bringing the score to 14-0.

Hill finished with a total of 154 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Mater Dei got on the scoreboard early in the third quarter when a Komets’ pass was intercepted by the Crusaders’ Rayshawn Holscher, setting up great field position for Aiden Calvert to run it in for a 6-yard touchdown.

The Crusaders were able to pull off their second and final touchdown in the fourth quarter when Sam Vasquez ran it in for a short 3-yard touchdown.

Next week the Mater Dei Crusaders will be at home and will take on Chula Vista.

The Kearny Komets will look to remain undefeated, taking on San Ysidro High School in an away match up.
