Kearny Mesa adult bookstore robbed at gunpoint for third time in a month

SAN DIEGO (CNS) – An adult bookstore in Kearny Mesa was robbed at gunpoint for the third time in about a month, police said Wednesday.

The latest robbery at Mercury Books at 8081 Balboa Ave. was reported at 6:03 p.m. Tuesday, according to San Diego police Officer Dino Delimitros.

A light-skinned black gunman in his 20s wearing a black bandana over his face entered the store and demanded cash, Delimitros said, adding that he wore a black shirt, a white zip-up hoodie and black gloves. He was seen leaving in a lifted black GMC Yukon with tinted windows, Delimitros said.

The business was also robbed in similar fashion on April 8 and April 26.
