KUSI welcomes Ashlie Rodriguez to the family and back home to San Diego

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) — KUSI is excited to welcome Ashlie Rodriguez back home to San Diego as part of our reporting and anchoring team. A local San Diegan, Ashlie is excited to be back in Southern California after cutting her reporting teeth in Great Falls, Montana and El Paso, Texas. She graduated from San Diego State University, studying political science and journalism after graduating from high school as a Mt. Miguel Matador.

The newest member of the KUSI family couldn’t be happier to be back in the best place in the world.

"As a journalist you report the news, that’s your job to give people information. But when you’re doing it in your hometown the information is so much more meaningful, and you feel like you have this platform," Ashlie said when asked about coming back to San Diego as a news reporter. "It’s your neighbors you’re talking to. You’re not just telling people. It’s my news, it’s your news, it’s our tax dollars, we’re all working together. It just means so much more to be back here."

You can watch Ashlie on KUSI News Saturday through Wednesday.

"I’m excited to be here, and I look forward to reporting the news for everybody."

You can follow Ashlie on Twitter @AshlieKUSI, LIKE her page on Facebook, and check out the video above for a Facebook Live she did with the digital team on her first day on the job here at KUSI!
