KUSI Special Report: Latest on the SDSU West proposal

Following up on Monday’s KUSI Special Report on the City Attorney’s analysis of the SDSU West campus initiative before the voters in November.

Today, Kim Kilkenny, a member of the friends of SDSU steering committee responded to Maria Elliot’s finding that “the analysis was difficult because the initiative has so many uncertainties.”

In studio, Kilkenny said any questions about a lack of specifics, can be addressed by the city in its contract with SDSU/State of California, adding its the city who creates conditions and terms of the land sale. Watch Kilkenny’s Good Morning San Diego interview here.

Mayor Faulconer was also in studio Tuesday, he supports the competing FS Investors/SoccerCity initiative, but emphasized the City Attorney’s analysis is part of the overall due diligence needed on the initiatives before the election.

KUSI has reached out to the City Attorney’s office and she has declined our offer to comment.

Both proposals need to receive more than 50% of the votes to move forward on the November ballot. San Diegans have the option to vote “No” on both initiatives.

KUSI’s Ed Lenderman has more.
