La Jolla 38, Coronado 7

The La Jolla Vikings conquered the Coronado Islanders in the final week of non- conference play this Friday. (38-7)

This win puts the Vikings at 3-3 heading into league play. La Jolla was a force to reckon with on offense as well as defense; they made sure Coronado felt the pressure all game. The Vikings had 3 sacks and 4 interceptions for the night. Even though the defense put up impressive stats the offense made sure to establish their offensive presence scoring 38 points. Scoring early on in the 1st quarter for the Vikings was Joseph Vang with quick 9 yard run. Shortly after in the 2nd quarter Collin Rugg found Trenton Fudge in the end-zone for a nice 10 yard pass. The Vikings would control the scoring for the rest of the game. La Jolla will be on the road once again as they take on the Point Loma Pointers next Friday.

The Coronado Islanders remembered former football and lacrosse player Kyle McArthur prior to the start of Friday’s match-up against the La Jolla Vikings. The Islanders were plagued with penalties and turnovers the majority of the game; however they were able to core early in the 2nd quarter despite the slow momentum of the game. Coronado will host Christian next week in the first league game of the season.
