La Mesa man arrested for allegedly setting fire to his home

LA MESA (CNS) – A 58-year-old La Mesa man was behind bars Sunday for allegedly setting a fire at his home that left seven other residents displaced and caused around $260,000 in damage.

Bradley Jonathan Bach was booked into jail Saturday for suspicion of arson of an inhabited structure in connection with the late Friday-night fire, according to La Mesa police and jail records. No one was hurt in the blaze at a single-story house on Rolando Knolls Drive, near 67th Street.

Bach and the home’s other residents were evacuated as firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze, police said. Firefighters contained the fire to the garage, and had it under control in 12 minutes, according to the Heartland Fire & Rescue Department.

Arson investigators summoned to investigate the cause of the fire determined that it had been intentionally set, La Mesa police Sgt. Katy Lynch said. Bach was identified as a “person of interest,” and was later arrested.

The American Red Cross was called to assist the seven displaced residents, authorities said.
