Two-alarm fire destroys La Mesa Rodeway Inn
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – 10:19 a.m. – The fire caused approximately $1.5 million in damage to the two-story hotel, and investigators considered it a total loss.
Heartland Fire & Rescue spokeswoman Monica Zech said, crews had the blaze knocked down in about 40 minutes, and the cause has yet to be determined.
Spring Street has been reopened. Gateside Road remained closed between Spring Street and Rockledge Road as of late morning, according to La Mesa police.
7:24 a.m. – Two-alarm fire tore through a hotel in La Mesa early Tuesday.
The fire happened at the Rodeway Inn on Spring Street near Palm Avenue and began at 4:45 a.m. Tuesday morning.
There are no immediate reports of injuries. That area of Spring Street has been shut down in both directions.
